Now I’m in trouble because I must read another wonderful tome by Rick Atkinson. I throughly enjoyed his three part work on the WWII so I’m looking forward to this.
Thank you for this review. This was the second article I read this morning after having read a BBC piece on D- Day. The history of Americans and English/ UK in war both against each other and in support of each other is very long and very deep. We must both remember from whence we came. And reflect upon where we are today. 🙏
Your excellent review makes that very clear, and Atkinson’s meandering off the straight path of actual fighting with digressive details would entice me more than a straight war and battle story. Jerry, I’m just on my first cup of coffee so it’s hard to find exactly the words that I mean. Of course, I am not a polished writer as you are, but I do love to read. Too many books and never enough time. ☺️
I finished it about a month ago. It was great.

He's always good value
This is one I’ve never read — not sure right now if my brain can cope with it, but I’ve put it on my list to read “when life improves”.

Your review commands me to add this book to my reading list. Sacrilege indeed to the upcoming 250th birthday!
It's a big, bountiful book.

Ain't that the truth.
